A friend of mine Joel Comm has just launched a cool Website called www.500words.com which basically allows advertisers to sponsor a word on the site. It’s a similar idea to the 1 million dollar homepage that was recently completed where advertisers could put a graphic on the site and pay for it.

This is a little better really as the page is already getting thousands of visitors a day and they can see exactly what your involved in straight away, your truly bought the word “Jobs” to promote www.jobnut.co.uk. The site will no doubt be up for years and get a lot of press attention so maybe you should go grab a word before they are all gone.

Joel may even swap a word you want that is not currently listed if your quick, so check it out at www.500words.com.

Firstly sorry for the lack of posts guys - I’ve been MEGA busy this month with numerous projects!

So lets chat about Google’s new much requested feature that is now available to Adwords customers.
Googles Day Parting feature basically allows advertisers to switch their adwords advertising on or off at certain times of the day, so for example you could have your adwords ads displayed from 9am - 7pm and then switch it off late in the evening when perhaps less people will be in a buying mood.

This feature requires a lot of experimenting and a great knowledge of your particular business - if your not careful you could end up missing loads of buyers by switching it off at a certain time of day.

Another feature of this system is that you can just reduce your bids on keywords for certain times of day instead of just switching of advertising too.

At present those advertisers he know what time the buyers are online most may be able to eliminate some of the ‘tyre kickers’ who click on their ads at a certin period throughout the day but rarely buy.

Google is currently testing a new system on Adwords that could prove very popular indeed. Basically you see a small phone icon nest to the advert and if you click it you can type in your telephone number and it connects you free of charge to the advertiser.

Here’s a screenshot:
Googles Click To Call Service

In Googles owns words:

“What’s the phone icon on Google search results? How does it work?
We’re testing a new product that gives you a free and fast way to speak directly to the advertiser you found on a Google search results page – over the phone.

Here’s how it works: When you click the phone icon, you can enter your phone number. Once you click ‘Connect For Free,’ Google calls the number you provided. When you pick up, you hear ringing on the other end as Google connects you to the other party. Then, chat away on our dime.

We won’t share your telephone number with anyone, including the advertiser. When you’re connected with the advertiser, your number is blocked so the advertiser can’t see it. In addition, we’ll delete the number from our servers after a short period of time.

Am I charged to connect to an advertiser?
No. Google foots the bill for all calls - local and long-distance. However, if we call a cell phone number, you may incur airtime fees depending on the cell phone plan. Check your cell phone provider for details. ”

As an adwords advertiser I am interested to know how well this works so as soon as it is available to all I will let you all know my findings.

I have already experimented with putting in our telephone number within the Adwords advert already and it didn’t appear to bring in better results for me.
