I was told about this Website today called http://www.oswd.org/ that enables you to browse through and download free Website templates. There’s some great designs amongst the templates and for free you can’t go wrong!

ShopperGuard Affiliates

Then it’s just a case of opening it all up in Dreamweaver or your favourite WYSIWYG editor to add your content and navigation links.

First of all, shame on me! I have been very busy and have not found time to write anything on my blog over the last couple of months.

However let’s get back on track and I’ll tell you about a very useful site I have been trying out called www.hittail.com.

In it’s own words:
“HitTail reveals in real-time the least utilized, most promising keywords hidden in the Long Tail of your natural search results. We present these terms to you as suggestions that when acted on will boost the natural search results of your site. It’s that simple.”

When they say act upon, what they mean is improve the page for the keyword it currently is found for. For example if you are at number 8 in Google for “magicians favourite tricks” by improving the quality of the content on the page and optimizing it better for the keyword you should move up the rankings and get more visits.

Most stats packages just tell you what keywords you are being found for but they don’t tell you what position in the search engines you were for it. Hit Tail scores your search engine position so you know where you are for that search term and on what engine.

My plan is to use this and when Hot Tail recommends I work on a keyword I will get one of my writers hired from www.elance.com to write on article on the keyword.
Hopefully this will result in more traffic for that keyword over time :-)

Go see the video about it at: http://www.hittail.com/demo/

There are thousands of quality domain names expiring every day that people have simply forgotton about or deliberatley left to go that you can have. Some will have hundreds of links pointing to them which you can then benefit from by sending all the traffic they generate to your own sites.

I’m currently trying a service called www.namespy.com to keep an eye out for some nice domain names for my businesses and I’d recommend you try them out. Namespy recommend Snapnames to actually try and aquaire the names for you but I would consider trying www.pool.com as they seem to be more successful in getting the domains.

One of the other useful features of Pool.com is that you can search for expiring domains by keyword. For example, if you are about to set up a hotel directory website then do a search for domains with hotels in it and see what you find on pool.com.

If you can find one that’s been around for a while and has links pointing to it then it will give your site a kick start. Also there is little doubt in my mind (and others) that Google is now placing more value on domains the older they are.
